#voteright4peace Campaign

With presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for February 16, 2019, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Eko aligns with SDG 16 – “To Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”.

The aim is to ignite a joint effort from all the sectors of the society using advocacy to raise awareness. Our campaign activities will feature online campaigns and community enlightenment programs.

Objectives

The objective of this campaign:

  • To educate people about the importance of electoral participation.
  • To encourage people to say no to vote selling;
  • To Promote peaceful behavior and opposing hate speech while encouraging people to shun violence;
  • To participate in the election process as an observer in monitoring election irregularities and instantly report them in real time to electoral commissions

Deliverables

  • We will host a stakeholder/discussant session during our Meeting, bringing together one expert each from different sectors of the society; to discuss about the election.
  • Activate weekly online campaigns to the Elections in 2019.
  • We will motivate and engage the networks of Active citizens and volunteers to participate in a Peaceful Election Advocacy Walk on 19th January 2019 in Abeokuta, where we will simulate the election process.
  • Collaborate with other organizations, experts, government and visionaries around the country to advocate for a peaceful election and participate in the election process.
