Urgent Cause

#voteright4peace Campaign

With presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for February 16, 2019, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Eko aligns with SDG 16 – “To Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”.

The aim is to ignite a joint effort from all the sectors of the society using advocacy to raise awareness. Our campaign activities will feature online campaigns and community enlightenment programs.

The objective of this campaign:

  • To educate people about the importance of electoral participation.
  • To encourage people to say no to vote selling;
  • To Promote peaceful behavior and opposing hate speech while encouraging people to shun violence;
  • To participate in the election process as an observer in monitoring election irregularities and instantly report them in real time to electoral commissions

  • We will host a stakeholder/discussant session during our Meeting, bringing together one expert each from different sectors of the society; to discuss about the election.
  • Activate weekly online campaigns to the Elections in 2019.
  • We will motivate and engage the networks of Active citizens and volunteers to participate in a Peaceful Election Advocacy Walk on 19th January 2019 in Abeokuta, where we will simulate the election process.
  • Collaborate with other organizations, experts, government and visionaries around the country to advocate for a peaceful election and participate in the election process.
